Fluorocarbons (FKM)

fkm-rubber-o-ring-sealing-material

Fluorocarbon rubber is a fluorocarbon-based elastomer containing fluorine in the molecule, and is divided into different categories depending on the fluorine content (i.e., monomer structure).

Advantages:

– Resistant to heat up to 250 °C
– Resistant to most oils and solvents, in particular, all acids, aliphatic hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, animal and vegetable oils

Disadvantages:

– Not recommended for ketones, esters with low molecular weight and mixtures containing nitrates.

The product’s high temperature resistance is superior to silicone rubber, with excellent chemical resistance. It is resistant to most oils and solvents (except ketones and esters), weather and ozone. However, the product’s cold resistance is not satisfactory, with the regular use temperature range of -20 ~ 250 °C.

Suitable for use in vehicles, locomotives, diesel engines, fuel systems and seals for chemical plants.
